Clear the Battlefield
Remove everything from your desk that isn't your current task. Phone face-down, extra tabs closed, water bottle filled. Physical clutter = mental clutter. Takes 30 seconds.
The 7-step ritual ADHD brains use to activate deep focus in under 3 minutes. Print it. Pin it. Use it every time you sit down to work.
Remove everything from your desk that isn't your current task. Phone face-down, extra tabs closed, water bottle filled. Physical clutter = mental clutter. Takes 30 seconds.
Write down the single task you're about to do. Not a list — one thing. If you're stuck choosing, use the Task Breakdown Generator to turn the scary thing into the smallest possible first step.
Pick a time block (20, 30, or 45 minutes). Start the Visual Timer so you can see time depleting — ADHD brains respond to visual countdowns, not digital numbers.
Close email, Slack, social media, and any tab unrelated to the task. Put your phone in another room or activate Do Not Disturb. Notifications are focus kryptonite — each one costs 23 minutes of recovery time.
Pick your focus audio: brown noise for deep work, lo-fi for creative flow, or binaural beats for sustained attention. Use the Focus Sound Mixer to layer the right soundscape. ADHD brains need background stimulation to stay engaged.
Hit start on your timer and begin immediately — no prep, no "one more thing." The first 2 minutes are pure action. Momentum beats motivation every time. If you can't start, use the Paralysis Buster to pick a launch strategy.
Keep a notepad or the Brain Dump tool open. Every time a distracting thought pops up ("Oh, I need to email Sarah"), write it down and return to your task. Don't trust your brain to remember — externalize it and keep going.
