Habit Tracker — Full Guide

What It Does
The Habit Tracker lets you add up to 10 habits, check them off daily, and watch your streaks grow. It uses a 7-day rolling grid so you can see your current week at a glance. Data saves to your browser automatically. Export to CSV when you want to analyse your patterns in a spreadsheet.
How to Use It
- Click Add Habit and name it. Start with 1-3 habits, not 10. Examples: "Morning walk," "No phone before bed," "Write 200 words."
- Each day, click the checkbox next to the habits you completed. That's it. Check a box, keep the streak.
- Watch your streak count grow beside each habit. The 7-day grid gives you a quick visual of your current week.
- Edit or delete habits using the controls next to each one.
- Export to CSV anytime — click the export button to download your data for analysis.
Tips for Best Results
- Start tiny. One habit for 7 days is more valuable than 10 habits for 2 days. Streaks are built on consistency, not ambition.
- Don't break the chain. The streak counter is the engine. Once you have a 5-day streak, the thought of breaking it becomes more motivating than the habit itself. Use that.
- Missing one day doesn't reset you to zero. Your streak resets, but your progress doesn't. 29 out of 30 days is still a win. Start again tomorrow.
- Use the CSV export monthly. Patterns emerge over weeks, not days. A spreadsheet shows you which days you skip most often (Monday? Saturday?) and which habits stick.
What Problem It Solves
Habit formation fails when you can't see your progress. Without a tracker, every day is a fresh decision — "should I do this?" The tracker turns it into an identity question: "I'm the kind of person who doesn't break a 12-day streak." The checkbox is trivial. The streak is the real motivator.
